Andrew Clegg is a unique guitarist, that observes traditional guitar while forging a new exciting sound. Blending elements of flamenco with Latin music, Andrew creates a fusion of sound that is stirring and enriching. Playing deep haunting melodies to rejoicing fiesta-like rumbas, Andrew's playing captures the spirit of the Spanish guitar.
The musical journey began for Andrew at a early age by studying the classical guitar, which opened up the rich tapestry of the Spanish guitar. Later, discovering popular music gave Andrew the understanding of the importance of a strong melody, and it is the combination of the traditional with the contemporary that helped Andrew create his own musical voice.
In 2010, Andrew released his debut album, 'Amber', which is a collection of original Latin guitar music with powerful rhythmical accompaniment layered with strong evocative melodies. 'Amber' has gained many positive reviews, including 'Andrew is a rare talent, not to be missed' The Yorkshire Post. The promotion of 'Amber', has seen Andrew performing around the UK and Europe at festivals and concerts. A highlight was playing to over 3000 people at Sheffield's Music In The Gardens in 2010.
There is something simple and honest, yet powerful about Andrew's live performances. One person and a guitar, provide the deep, pure musical communication. Haunting melodies embedded in exhilarating Latin rhythms ensure that audiences are enthralled by the unique and exciting sound of Andrew Clegg's guitar playing.
The release of 'Silk Road', further developed Andrew as an original artist with a collection of both authentic rhythms and unforgetable melodies.
